Trespaphan to be sold
to a consortium
Celanese AG has signed an agreement to sell Trespaphan, its oriented polypropylene business, to a consortium consisting of Dor-Moplefan and Bain Capital. The purchase price is approximately E200 million, and the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
In 2001, Trespaphan generated sales of E281 million. The business has 1,400 employees and production sites in Germany, France, South Africa and Mexico. Dor-Moplefan is a Netherlands-based group of companies that produce polypropylene films. Bain Capital is a US investment firm.
